Tim Maleeny flew in from New York to promote his latest novel, “Boxing the Octopus,” at the Mysterious Galaxy bookstore December 7th. Of course, I wanted to be there, as Tim was very supportive of my debut novel, “A Line Intersected,” even providing a blurb for the cover.
“Boxing the Octopus” is winning rave reviews and is the 4th installment of the Cape Weathers mystery series. If you haven’t picked up a copy, you should-even writer luminaries like Don Winslow love his work. Tim has that magical gift all writers strive for: he is entertaining, has a distinct style, and combines mystery, wit, great dialogue, and clever plotting to give the reader everything he could ask for.
Here are a few pictures of the event below. By the way, the Mysterious Galaxy has new owners now, and will continue to be foremost among San Diego’s independent bookstores. I’ll miss former owner Maryelizabeth Yturraldi: I called her the Sylvia Beach of San Diego, in honor of all she has done on the local scene for writers.
